Freekeh Cooking Instructions

Both Cracked and Wholegrain Freekeh can be cooked just like rice on the stove, in the microwave, or in a rice cooker. Cracked Freekeh takes much less time to cook than Wholegrain Freekeh and absorbs a lot of liquid. The yields are in the range of 1 cup (dry) = 3-4 cups cooked.

Absorption Method
  1. Place 1 cup of Greenwheat Freekeh, 4 Cups of cold water and ½ tsp of salt (optional) into a saucepan and bring to boil.
  1. Reduce to simmer, cover with lid. Cook gently for approximately a further 35-40 minutes until tender or until liquid is absorbed.
